Michael Jackson ONE: About the Creators
Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson ONE was inspired by the legendary King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The idea for this captivating celebration of the unforgettable singer’s life spawned from Cirque du Soleil’s Immortal World Tour production. The Immortal World Tour combined the music, style, and vision of Michael Jackson with the signature style of Cirque.
With help from director Jamie King, who had previously toured with Michael Jackson as a dancer, the Immortal World Tour became the seventh highest grossing tour of all time. After much critical acclaim and worldwide success, Cirque du Soleil teamed up with Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino to develop the Immortal World Tour into a residency show fit for the Las Vegas Strip.
In 2013, Jamie King re-joined the Cirque du Soleil team to both write and direct the inspiring new performance. On February 21, 2013 plans for Michael Jackson ONE were announced through social media and four months later on June 29th, 2013, the production premiered.
Michael Jackson ONE continues to astonish audiences at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. With its unforgettable music and detailed homages to the King of Pop, guests will feel they’ve harnessed the spirit of MJ himself during this extraordinary Cirque du Soleil creation.
