Mystere by Cirque du Soleil: About the Creators
In 1990, Cirque du Soleil heavy hitters Giles Ste-Croix and Franco Dragone began dreaming up ideas for a production that would take the Las Vegas strip by storm. The original idea for Mystère was based around Greek and Roman mythology, but as plans progressed Ste-Croix and Dragone developed innovative American themes to incorporate into the show.
Mystère was Las Vegas’ first production to steer away from Sin City’s classic, Folies Bergère vibe, deeming it a “risky” production for any Strip property to take on. Finally, in 1993 the Treasure Island took on the mystical show. Treasure Island constructed a theatre uniquely crafted for Mystère, making the production a permanent fixture at the hotel.
On December 25th, 1993 Mystère premiered, marking a new era of entertainment in Las Vegas. Mystère has seen nothing but success since the day of its opening, and is frequently referenced in pop culture.
Showgoers can witness the wonder of Mystère live at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino.
