“O” by Cirque du Soleil: About the Creators
“O” at the Bellagio is frequently regarded as one of Las Vegas’s most unique productions. ”O” is the creation of the well-known Canadian entertainment company, Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 by Guy Laliberté, Gilles Ste-Croix and Daniel Gauthier. After creating a number of touring shows, Cirque du Soleil saw its first major success in 1990 with Nouvelle Expérience.
With help from director Franco Dragone, Nouvelle Expérience put Cirque du Soleil on the map, and the success eventually lead to the debut of the long-running Las Vegas production, Mystere, on Christmas Day in 1993.
On October 15th, 1998 “O” came to life at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino. The water-themed production was said to be inspired by "infinity and elegance of water's pure form." “O” became Cirque du Soleil’s 10th Las Vegas show and second resident production.
Cirque du Soleil continues to tour exciting new shows and currently has over five active resident shows in Las Vegas.
