Paris Las Vegas is now home to a $1.7 million light spectacle

Paris, France is the official City of Light, but Las Vegas knows a thing or two about illuminating the night sky. Now our desert oasis is even brighter with the addition of a $1.7 million light attraction at the Paris Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Strip resort debuted the dancing, twinkling flourish of lights on the exterior of its 541-foot-tall, half-scale Eiffel Tower on Wednesday. The show, like the replica tower, is inspired by the original in Paris, France.

“As we celebrate the resort’s 20th anniversary this year, Paris Las Vegas continues to bring the same spirit, sophistication and romance of the European City of Light to the heart of The Strip,” said Gary Selesner, the resort’s regional president.

The light show debut was celebrated by revelers including world-renowned chef Guy Savoy, legendary French actress and singer Line Renaud and Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson.

Though the 46-story Las Vegas Eiffel Tower was previously lit, the flashy new light show – designed in partnership with Vision Sign, Inc. – incorporates nearly 300 color-washing light fixtures and 800 white strobe lights.

The lights switch into action nightly, every 30 minutes between sunset and midnight. With the iconic Bellagio fountain show located directly across the street, Strip-goers near Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard will never wait long to take in some free entertainment.

As for those who prefer an elevated view, including a 360-degree look at the Las Vegas valley, you will find it (for a price) on the Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck, open daily from 10 p.m. to midnight.

In addition to the enhanced Eiffel Tower light show, Paris Las Vegas is kicking off its platinum anniversary with 1,300 redesigned guest rooms and the new $3.75 million Voie Spa & Salon, all part of a $92 million investment in the property.

In May, the resort will unveil nearly 1,600 more reimagined guest rooms and suites, designed by KNA Designs.
