5 Unique Things to Do in Las Vegas This Valentine's Day

Sexy shows, off-the-beaten path adventures and more

When was the last time you had a really memorable Valentine’s Day? Not a really good heart-shaped box of chocolates or a nice bottle of wine or a pretty Hallmark card, but a day that actually stuck with you? If your Valentine’s Day plans are as predictable as Target putting out Cupid decorations the week after Christmas, shake things up this year in Las Vegas.

Yes, it’s tempting to go the autopilot route and make yet another dinner reservation at an expensive, dimly-lit restaurant, but why not do something more interesting? From outdoor activities and heart-stopping adventures to sexy shows and cultural offerings, here are five ideas for having the most unique Valentine’s Day ever this year in Las Vegas:

Get High
No, we’re not talking about Nevada’s legalized recreational marijuana. This Valentine’s Day, take to the skies by booking a helicopter ride, hot air balloon ride, or taking a spin on the world’s tallest observation wheel. Whisk your partner away for sunset at the Grand Canyon or get up early and float above the desert in a hot air balloon. After dark, marvel at the neon lights while enjoying cocktails on the High Roller.

See a Sexy Show
Get a little naughty this year—it’s Vegas, after all. Choose from a slew of sexy shows including burlesque romps like X Burlesque and Fantasy or see sensual acrobatics at Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity. You could also opt for something that’s equal parts titillating and hilarious, like Sex Tips for Straight Women From a Gay Man or Zombie Burlesque.

Go Au Natural
Las Vegas is surrounded by vast wilderness, so if you’re outdoorsy, get into nature this Valentine’s Day. Explore the crimson walls of Red Rock Canyon, scout for bighorn sheep at Valley of Fire, kayak the lower Colorado River below the Hoover Dam, or see the last of the winter snow at Mt. Charleston. Most Las Vegas outdoor adventures are much closer than you think – Red Rock Canyon is only about a half-hour drive from the Strip – so if you can’t choose one of these, it’s possible to fit a few in.

Visit a Museum
Many a Las Vegas visitor has made the mistake of assuming that there is no culture in the land of slot machines. But you’re smarter than that, so this Valentine’s Day, you're going to see the city’s museums. Learn about the history of organized crime at the Mob Museum. Wander through a literal graveyard of retired casino signs at the Neon Museum, or have a blast (pun intended) at the National Atomic Testing Museum.

Get Your Heart Racing
There are a few things in life that can make your heart race. One of them is falling in love, another is bungee jumping off the tallest building in Las Vegas. This Valentine’s Day, you can have both. Adrenaline junkies can ride the rides at the STRAT, try indoor skydiving, or zipline from rooftop to rooftop at the Rio. After you’ve conquered your fears, celebrate with a glass of champagne.
